About Us

welcome

Wessington Bright Futures Foundation is a registered charity devoted to enhancing the lives of children, parents, and the local community associated with Wessington Primary School in Washington.

Our mission is to support the life advancement and personal development of children through a variety of additional activities and programs, fostering a strong, supportive community network.

We offer a range of activities designed to promote independence, learning, and overall life skills. These include:

  • Breakfast Clubs: Providing a nutritious start to the day alongside engaging activities.
  • After School Clubs: Offering a safe and enriching environment for continued learning and play.
  • Holiday Activity Clubs: Ensuring children have access to fun and educational activities during school breaks.
  • Community Events: Delivering a wide range of open community events to bring everybody within the community together.
  • Personalised Support: We support children, parents and our community with a range of advice and services tailored to each persons needs whether its welfare advice or one-to-one counselling.

Our activities encompass a variety of interests and needs, from physical and mental health programs like the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) club and Zen Kids Club (Yoga), to life skills workshops addressing issues such as food poverty through cooking classes.

Wessington Bright Futures Foundation operates in an area of high deprivation, and we are committed to levelling the playing field for all children by providing opportunities that might otherwise be unavailable. We strive to support both children and parents, ensuring that every child has the best possible chance to succeed.

Wessington Bright Futures Foundation is an independent Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with its own governing board under the registered charity number 1209237 with The Charity Commission England and Wales. This structure ensures we have the autonomy to make decisions that best serve our community while maintaining strong ties with the school.

The safety and well-being of our beneficiaries are paramount. We have stringent safeguarding policies in place, aligned with those of Wessington Primary School, including a dedicated Safeguarding Lead and deputy. All activities are thoroughly risk assessed, and staff undergo comprehensive background checks.

Our work is made possible through a combination of fundraising events, public donations, and grants from organisations. We are grateful for the generous support of our donors, which allows us to continue providing essential services and programs.

We welcome the support of individuals, businesses, and organisations who share our commitment to making a difference in the lives of Wessington’s children and community. To learn more about our work or to make a donation, please contact us at;
